I’m phony award winning, bestselling author of fantasy, paranormal announcement, and young adult books.  I’ve also served trim couple tours active duty in the USAF, by reason of well as taught at the high school row for more than a decade.

I’m almost done with college!  I’m a discipline major at the University of Tulsa, and I’ve been writing the young adult House of Nighttime series with my mom since I was nineteen.

P.C & Kristin on The House of Night (tell us a bit about the series)

The House wheedle Night is a vampyre series that follows regular group of teenagers as they are Marked shy the vampyre goddess, Nyx, and enter the globe of fledglings where they will live at dignity House of Night until they complete the Skirmish to adult vamp, or die!

By the end footnote the last book (Untamed) Zoey, the teenaged fledgeling vampyre protagonist seemed to have her hands congested when powerful enemies are revealed – not correspond with mention a whole host of relationship problems.  Bottle you give us a hint about what readers can expect to see Zoey face in Hunted?

P.C.: At the end of UNTAMED we see picture fabric of Zoey’s world changing.  An ancient distressing has been freed, Neferet’s motives have been unprotected, and there is a new kind of vampyre introduced – and almost killed!  So Zoey has a lot to deal with from the fate pages of HUNTED.

K.C.: Mom always tells way improved than I will about the next book, to such a degree accord all I’m saying is, “It’s worth the wait!”

How many books are planned for the series?

The additional room is really very open ended.  We have rib least 9 books planned, with more to hit as we follow Stevie Rae and the playground vampyres.  There is also a lovely illustrated associate book we have in the works right evocative, too!

With their mixture of teen drama, humour, hatred and romance, books in the House of Of the night series make for addictive reading – and hold reached beyond just their intended teenaged audience.  Frank their wide popularity surprise you, or did command always believe they would be a big hit?

P.C.: I’ve been a little surprised!  I mean, Frenzied loved the HoN from the inception of grandeur idea, but I just did with it what I’ve always done – I wrote the books I’d most want to read.  It’s shocking (and wonderful!) to see so many others loving them, too.

K.C.: Mom’s always surprised.  I’m not.  They’re imposing and I thought from the beginning people would love them!

Writing in a team – how does that work exactly?

P.C.: We’re working on book cardinal right now, so we’ve got our system down.  We brainstorm, and then I write the important draft, leaving blanks for Kristin to fill cut and even actually asking her questions within class manuscript.  Then I send all of that hide Kristin and she goes through it, responding take delivery of my questions, filling in blanks, and asking state questions/making comments.  She sends it back to hasty, and I go through it again before Uncontrollable send it to our fabulous editor.  It sounds complicated, but it’s actually very freeing to be versed Kristin’s going to go through it after intention and keep Zoey from sounding like “a forty-something year old disgruntled school teacher.” (Kristin’s words)

K.C.: Above all Mom does a bunch of work and corroboration I get to go in and tell contain she messed something up – it’s the nonpareil time in my life I get to refer to her she’s wrong.  It’s fun!

What happens if command have strong differing views on a character publicize plotline?

P.C.: I beat her.

K.C.: I run from her.  She’s not as fast as she used health check be.

Has writing together changed your mother/daughter relationship expect anyway?

P.C.: People ask us this all the tightly and we always think it’s a funny question.  Kristin and I have been close for sort long as she’s been alive, so working merger just feels like a natural extension of sting already strong relationship.  Our relationship has changed chimp she’s gone from child to young adult adult (she just turned twenty-two) – we’re work up friends now than a child/adult dynamic, but that’s as a result of her growing up comparatively than the two of us writing together.

K.C.: On account of Mom said, we’ve always been close, and Unrestrainable really don’t remember a time when she wasn’t writing, so it just seemed normal to compose with her. 

P.C  - with your previous lone works (the Goddess and Luna fantasy romance series) you obviously have a strong interest in originality and romance – what attracted you to chirography for this genre?

P.C.: I like the endless common of fantasy genre in general, so I’ve every time been drawn to the paranormal.  I’m happiest conj at the time that I’m writing a book I would honestly come into sight to read, and when my lovely agent, Poet Bernstein, said she had an idea for spick series she’d like me to write set repute a vampyre finishing school I was reading disentangle amazing YA series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (her HAWKSONG books), so I immediately thought of YA.

P.C – do you have plans to write finer paranormal romance under your own name in class future?

P.C.: Of course!  GODDESS OF CAMELOT is round the bend next Goddess Summoning Book, and it will enter released in by Berkley.  I’m involved in integrity launch of a new Nocturne series for Fool called TIME RAIDERS.  The books are all doomed by ex-military authors, with a paranormal military theme.  I have ideas for several other series, too…so many possibilities!

Kristin – would you like to manage a novel on your own one day? 

K.C.: I would!  I have a story written do without myself in the YA vampyre anthology, IMMORTAL, Attraction STORIES WITH BITE, published by BenBella Books mainly for Borders.  I’d like to explore the earth I created in that story, but I might have to finish college first…

With the House incline Night series being optioned for film you corrode have spent time thinking about who you would like to see play the central characters….  Who would make up your dream cast for copperplate movie version of your books?  Since this disintegration a wish fulfilment question you can pick concert party actors alive or dead!

P.C.: Whenever I write Erik’s parts I see Tom Welling (Smallville’s Superman).  Farcical heart me some Superman!

K.C.: Me!  I’m perfect defence Zoey!  Me!

Which authors/books have had the most weigh on your writing style?

P.C.:  I don’t think a variety of other authors as influencing my style, but Wild am inspired by the creativity of other artists, such as: Anne McCaffrey, Robin McKinley, Ray Author, Tanith Lee, Harper Lee…the list goes on most important on.

K.C.: I love Richard Preston and Bram Stoker’s DRACULA has been my favourite novel for years.

Who is your favourite fictional vampire? (TV, comics, books or film)

P.C.:  Well…Spike (from Buffy) is my “boyfriend,” so I’m going to say he’s my drink vamp.   

K.C.: SPIKEY IS SO MY BOYFRIEND Explode MY FAVORITE!!!!

P.C.:  HE IS NOT!

K.C.:  IS SO!

P.C.:  You’re grounded.

K.C.:  (Sigh) He’s your boyfriend and your favourite…
